How NoorQuran Verifies Every Scholar: Our 5-Step Process
We don’t just list teachers. We verify them — rigorously. Here’s every step of the process, with nothing hidden.
Why verification matters — and why we publish our process
Trust is the foundation of Quran education. When you enrol your child with a NoorQuran scholar, you’re trusting that person with something precious: your child’s relationship with the Quran, their pronunciation habits for life, and their safety during lessons. We take that trust seriously — and we believe you deserve to know exactly how we earn it.
Many platforms claim their teachers are “qualified” or “verified” without explaining what that means. We’re different. Here is our complete 5-step verification process, with nothing hidden.
Step 1: Document verification
Every applicant submits their ijazah certificate, institutional degree, and identification documents. Our verification team:
- Confirms the ijazah is genuine by contacting the granting scholar or institution directly
- Verifies the applicant’s identity matches their documents
- Checks their institutional affiliation against our database of recognised Quran education institutions
- Reviews their stated teaching experience and references
Approximately 40% of applicants are rejected at this stage — most commonly because they cannot produce a verifiable ijazah or their institutional claims cannot be confirmed.
Step 2: Live recitation assessment
Applicants who pass document verification undergo a live recitation assessment conducted by our senior scholars. They’re asked to recite selected passages from across the Quran (not just familiar surahs) while our assessors evaluate:
- Makhaarij precision — correct articulation of all Arabic letters
- Tajweed rule application — noon saakinah, madd, qalqalah, waqf, and more
- Fluency and rhythm — smooth, measured recitation without hesitation
- Consistency — maintaining quality across unfamiliar passages, not just rehearsed ones
Step 3: Teaching demonstration
Knowing the Quran and teaching the Quran are different skills. In this step, the applicant teaches a simulated lesson to demonstrate their ability to:
- Identify errors in a student’s recitation
- Explain corrections clearly and patiently
- Adapt their teaching approach for different age groups
- Maintain engagement and positive energy throughout the lesson
We specifically assess how they handle mistakes — do they correct with kindness and encouragement, or with impatience and criticism? This distinction matters enormously for children’s long-term engagement.
Step 4: Background verification
We conduct background checks appropriate to the teacher’s location:
- UK-based: Enhanced DBS check
- Pakistan/Egypt/Other: Police clearance certificate from country of residence, plus reference checks from their institution and previous teaching positions
Any applicant with a concerning background check result is automatically rejected, regardless of their Quran qualifications.
Step 5: Ongoing quality review
Verification doesn’t end at listing. Our quality assurance is continuous:
- Student feedback: After every lesson, parents can rate their experience. Scholars consistently below 4.5/5.0 receive performance coaching.
- Periodic lesson review: Our senior scholars periodically review lesson recordings to ensure teaching quality remains consistent.
- Parent complaints: Every complaint is investigated promptly. Serious or repeated issues result in suspension or removal from the platform.
- Annual re-verification: Scholars undergo annual review of their performance metrics, parent feedback, and continued compliance with our standards.
Our rejection rate: quality over quantity
We reject approximately 55% of all teacher applicants. This is by design. We would rather have 180 exceptional scholars than 500 mediocre ones. Every scholar you see on NoorQuran has passed all five steps — and continues to meet our standards through ongoing review.
Our promise to every family
When you choose a scholar on NoorQuran, you’re choosing someone whose ijazah has been authenticated, whose recitation has been assessed by senior scholars, whose teaching ability has been demonstrated, whose background has been checked, and whose performance is continuously reviewed. This is our promise — and it’s one we take more seriously than anything else.
